Moved to Butte. Met wife – Minute 8

DIRECTOR HUNTER WEEKS: Can you tell us about your experience in Butte? Is that where you met your wife? In Butte – is that where you met your wife? WALTER: No – In 1919, there was no rain and the farmers couldn’t buy hay. Hay was so high priced that they had to sell their cattle off – most of them did. And at that time the railroad laid off – oh, hundreds of people because there was nothing to haul. And I had to go to Butte to bump a guy there I had seen in order to work. I worked over there two years. That’s where I met my wife. She was railroad telegrapher. We got married in ’22, moved back to Great Falls, been here ever since.
